TariffShark Support giving advice to customers who are unsure when choosing a Filing Type and Code

Beyond situations where the customer is making a filing with a common filing type like a “Rate Change” or an “Amendment”, it is probably best that we not give advice for choosing the Filing Type and Code under which to submit the filing to FERC.  Filing under an erroneous filing type can waste a lot of time for both our customers and us, can negatively affect customer rapport, and may even have legal implications.

The following standard message can be delivered whenever the question,
“Which Filing Type should I choose when creating a Filing in TariffShark?”

TariffShark Support typically DOES NOT give advice on which Filing Type to choose as this can have legal and regulatory implications beyond the scope of the software.

We DO suggest that you consult with legal counsel and/or FERC staff for assistance determining the appropriate Filing Type and Code for your eTariff filing.

To be sure that all possible filing types and codes are available, (per the timing of their filing and their company’s FERC program) please verify that customers have downloaded and installed the most up-to-date release of TariffShark, and if they have not, please encourage them to do so.
