Before we do any work for the client, we must contact Bob VanValkenburg about the clients agreement and cost to add a new Company to the license.xml file or edit the license.xml file to replace an old company with a new one.

After Bob has talked to the client and confirmed any cost, we can move forward below.

Have the client locate their License.xml file. Almost nobody changes the default location for the License.xml file (which is the same folder as the web.config file). Then send us the License.xml file.

We compare the License.xml file they sent us to the the License.xml we have located here: T:\TariffShark\Licenses\<Clients Company Name>. If a folder contains many .xml files ignore those since they are copies and locate the one file named "License.xml". Be sure to copy our License.xml file and give it a new name before comparing it to the client's License.xml. Compare the two xml files (Notepad and Visual Studio Code can read xml files).

If comparing found differences in the xml files, reach out to Steve Goldberg about what to do. If no differences were found follow the prompt based on what action is being taken:

ADDING NEW COMPANY TO LICENSE.XML

1. Copy an existing <Company> </Company> tag.

2. Paste it above </TariffShark>.

3. Change the <Name> </Name> to the new company's name.

4. Change the <DocumentSupportType></DocumentSupportType> to the type of license specified by Bob. Options are: Readonly, Plus, or Full.

5. Save the updated License.xml.

6. Upload License.xml to T:\TariffShark\Licenses\UpdateCompanies.bat to assign a new signature to the License.xml file.

UPDATING EXISTING COMPANY ON LICENSE.XML

1. Change the <DocumentSupportType></DocumentSupportType> of the Company being updated to the type of license specified by Bob. Options are: Readonly, Plus, or Full.

2. Save the updated License.xml.

3. Upload License.xml to T:\TariffShark\Licenses\UpdateCompanies.bat to assign a new signature to the License.xml file.

Send the License.xml to the client. They will need to replace the License.xml with our sent one.

After that, any TariffShark user, should be able to log into TariffShark and go to Help > About > License Tab and should see "New Company Official Name" and updated License types in the grid.

Once that is verified, the company can created in TariffShark and subsequent Tariff Database, Tariffs, Filings etc.

OLD ARTICLE

The new TariffShark license file is attached with ”New Company Official Name” added.

You need to give this new License.xml file to someone in your organization that has access to the TariffShark application server that can swap out the file. Any TariffShark user can provide the server’s URL from their TariffShark. This can be found in Help > About and scroll down to find the URL.

Once they find this file, they should replace (overwrite) the current License.xml file with the one that TariffShark Support provided here.

After that, any TariffShark user, should be able to log into TariffShark and go to Help > About > License Tab and should see "New Company Official Name" in the grid.

Once that is verified, the company can created in TariffShark and subsequent Tariff Database, Tariffs, Filings etc.
